The teacher was kind and prepared, but the lesson was difficult to follow because she speaks very fast and doesn’t use English. This approach may work very well for students at a higher level.

I found the lessons to be very useful. I could feel my listening and speaking skills improving thanks to the classes. I also have more confidence and comfort when using mandarin in my daily life.
The lesson content is also great, we usually discuss our lives at the beginning to have some unstructured practice, then go over some specific topic and learn grammar/new words and how to use them. Sometimes the teacher also prepares listening and writing practice exercises which is very helpful as well.

Q4. What's the right learning environment for me? Should I choose a Chinese tutor who is a native speaker?
One of the best ways to learn Chinese is to immerse yourself in an environment where you try to use only Chinese.
However, if you do not currently have a solid base in spelling and/or vocabulary, we recommend you choose a bilingual tutor who speaks your target language and your native language, as you will likely have a better learning experience during your one-on-one private tutoring.
